We are seeking an Agent (Engineer) to take ownership of a defined section of the HS2 programme in Aylesbury. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with leadership skills to step up and make a tangible impact on a landmark UK infrastructure project.


The Role

As an Agent, you’ll be responsible for leading your engineering team and ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of your section of the works. This includes:

  • Planning, co-ordinating, and mentoring your engineering team.
  • Overseeing surveys, setting out, QA and technical compliance.
  • Assessing constructability methods, sequencing and temporary works.
  • Supporting mass-haul and seasonal planning within your section.
  • Managing commercial aspects, including notifications, subcontractor assessment, and earned value tracking.
  • Working closely with Foremen, Planners, Commercial and HSEQ teams to drive best practice and performance.


About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Significant experience in civil engineering, earthworks, or large-scale excavation projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of large-scale earthmoving, plant, and material logistics.
  • Proven leadership with the ability to line manage and develop a small team.
  • Commercial awareness and experience working under NEC contracts.
  • Eligibility for (or membership of) ICE, with progression towards IEng/CEng.
  • A full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.


Desirable experience includes time spent with an earthmoving contractor, ICE professional accreditation, and a strong technical background in surveying, soils, and temporary works.
